Northumbrian Pipers Nights

Third Monday in each Month, Led by pipemaker Richard Evans the first half of the evening is dedicated to training and development of the group and after 9.00 pm all other traditional musicians are welcome to join in. Hesket Traditional music Gathering July 2009

On The weekend on July 11th, 12th and 13th we hosted our first ever gathering of folk and roots musicians and singers - kindred spirits in fellowship . The Old Crown- Die Legende a pub swop with Bavaria

REGULARS’ - PUB-TWINNING 26.09.2008 – 12.10.2008 Share a pint with our Bavarian friends. For two weeks The Old Crown at Hesket Newmarket was twinned with another rural pub in the beautiful Bavarian region of Chiemgau. Regulars - A live video link was installed at both locations. Users of the pub were able to look into this portal and experience a glimpse of daily pub life in Bavaria.. They directly interacted with one another, sharing a joke, a tale, a tradition and songs and music. From 26th September to 12th October We welcomed new ‘virtual regulars’ into the pub and we now look forward to seeing what lasting relationships might have been formed, and how much our Bavarian friends become a part of the local pub community. Stop Press Message from - Dave Absalom to - all Hesket Spiders- By popular request (yes really) it has been forcibly suggested to me that a MEET should be held before our most hospitable host at the Old Crown departs at the end of October. SO Old Crown room is booked for Friday 17th. Oct. Cost (payable to Malcolm at the Old Crown) £5 to include a plate of wholesome nosh. It is important that you book at the pub (tele 01697478 288) so they can get the catering numbers right. John Porter has threatened to show some slides if you don't come up with something better!!!! It would be good if some of the walker/ramblers/cyclists, (Wales/Old Crown Round/ Bob Graham etc.) had a few slides/stories to relate to stop the rock jocks dominating. Please pass the word to those who are not electronically connected (Arthur) and encourage those who do not feel entitled to attend because they are not members. The new membership scheme which allows people to opt out rather than opt in has increased the membership considerably and has raised the income from subscriptions by 100%(2x0=0)
